relatedformuladescribedaboveandprogrammingtherequiredvalueintheBRG
register,therequiredbaudratecanbesetup.
Note:Baudrate=fSYS/[64×(N+1)]ifBRGH=0.
Baudrate=fSYS/[16×(N+1)]ifBRGH=1.
Baud Rate Generator
Tosetupthespeedoftheserialdatacommunication,theUARTfunctioncontainsitsowndedicated
baudrategenerator.Thebaudrateiscontrolledbyitsowninternalfreerunning8-bittimer,the
periodofwhichisdeterminedbytwofactors.Thefirstoftheseisthevalueplacedinthebaudrate
registerBRGandthesecondisthevalueoftheBRGHbitinthecontrolregisterUCR2.TheBRGH
bitdecidesifthebaudrategeneratoristobeusedinahighspeedmodeorlowspeedmode,whichin
turndeterminestheformulathatisusedtocalculatethebaudrate.ThevalueNintheBRGregister
whichisusedinthefollowingbaudratecalculationformuladeterminesthedivisionfactor.Note
thatNisthedecimalvalueplacedintheBRGregisterandhasarangeofbetween0and255.

ByprogrammingtheBRGHbitwhichallowsselectionoftherelatedformulaandprogrammingthe

associatedbetweentheactualandrequestedvalue.ThefollowingexampleshowshowtheBRG
registervalueNandtheerrorvaluecanbecalculated.
