Watchdog Timer
TheWatchdogTimerisprovidedtopreventprogrammalfunctionsorsequencesfromjumpingto
unknownlocations,duetocertainuncontrollableexternaleventssuchaselectricalnoise.
Watchdog Timer Clock Source
TheWatchdogTimerclocksourceisprovidedbytheinternalfSUBclockwhichisinturnsupplied
bytheLIRCoscillator.TheWatchdogTimersourceclockisthensubdividedbyaratioof28to
218togivelongertimeouts,theactualvaluebeingchosenusingtheWS2~WS0bitsintheWDTC
register.TheLIRCinternaloscillatorhasanapproximateperiodof32kHzatasupplyvoltageof5V.
However,itshouldbenotedthatthisspecifiedinternalclockperiodcanvarywithVDD,temperature
andprocessvariations.
Watchdog Timer Control Register
Asingleregister,WDTC,controlstherequiredtimeoutperiodaswellastheenable/disable
operation.TheWDTCregisterisinitiatedto01010011Batanyresetbutkeepsunchangedatthe
WDTtime-outoccurrenceinapowerdownstate.
