Figure 10. and Figure 11. show that the measured clamping voltages are much lower than

the specified values. This could be explained by two points. First, these measurements are

is specified for an 8/20 µs or a 10/1000 µs pulse shape. That means that the rise time and

the fall time (back to 50% of the peak value) of the current are respectively 8 µs and 20 µs

for the 8/20 wave shape. Here the current pulse lasts only a few hundreds of ns. The device

has no time to heat up. The clamping voltage is then lower than the one specified for an 8/20

shape.
