ID IPEAK VG SR Conduction Period 50% SR Conduction Period IC Figure 22: SR Waveforms in QR Mode To effectively utilize the MOSFET’s RDS(ON), the MOSFET should be completely turned on for at least 50% of the SR conduction period. VDS can be estimated with Equation (23): DS C ON OUT ON FWD V -I R -2 I R -V = = (23) Where VFWD is the forward voltage threshold. The MOSFET’s RDS(ON) should not be lower than 12 / IOUT (in mΩ). For example, for a 5A application, RDS(ON) should not be below 2.4mΩ. Design Example Table 1 shows a design example when using the MPX2003 for a 65W PD charger application.
