45 / 59 page  USB Port Power Controller with Charger Emulation Datasheet SMSC UCS1001 45 Revision 1.2 (05-21-12) DATASHEET 8.8.2 Emulation Cycling In Dedicated Charger Emulation Cycle mode, the charger emulation profiles will be applied in the following order: 1. Legacy 1 2. BC1.2 DCP 3. Legacy 2 4. Legacy 3 5. Legacy 4 6. Legacy 5 7. Legacy 6 8. Legacy 7 APPLICATION NOTE: If S0=’0’ and a portable device is not attached in DCE Cycle mode, the UCS1001 will be cycling through charger emulation profiles. There is no guarantee which charger emulation profile will be applied first when a portable device attaches. 8.8.3 DCE Cycle Retry If none of the charger emulation profiles cause a charge current to be drawn, the UCS1001 will perform emulation reset and cycle through the profiles again. The UCS1001 will continue to cycle through the profiles so as long as charging current is not drawn and the PWR_EN control is enabled. 8.9 Current Limit Mode Associations The UCS1001 will close the port power switch and use the current limiting mode as shown in Table 8.2.
