TheWatchdogTimerisprovidedtopreventprogrammalfunctionsorsequencesfromjumpingto
unknownlocations,duetocertainuncontrollableexternaleventssuchaselectricalnoise.
Watchdog Timer Clock Source
TheWatchdogTimerclocksourceisprovidedbythefSUBclock.ThefSUBclockissourcedfrom
theLXToscillatorselected.TheLXToscillatorissuppliedbyanexternal32.768kHzcrystal.The
WatchdogTimersourceclockisthensubdividedbyaratioof28to218togivelongertimeouts,the
actualvaluebeingchosenusingtheWS2~WS0bitsintheWDTCregister.
Watchdog Timer Control Regsiter
Asingleregister,WDTC,controlstherequiredtimeoutperiodaswellastheenableoperation.This
registercontrolstheoveralloperationoftheWatchdogTimer.
