BitsTPSC2~TPSC0oftheTMRCregistercanbeusedtodefineadivisionratiofortheinternal

clocksourceoftheTimer/EventCounterenablinglongertimeoutperiodstobeset.

PFD Function

TheProgrammableFrequencyDividerprovidesameansofproducingavariablefrequencyoutput

suitableforapplication,suchassomeinterfacesrequiringaprecisefrequencygenerator.

TheTimer/EventCounteroverflowsignalistheclocksourceforthePFDfunction,whichis

controlledbyPFDCbitinCTRL0.ForthisdevicetheclocksourcecancomefromTimer/Event

Counter.Theoutputfrequencyiscontrolledbyloadingtherequiredvaluesintothetimerprescaler

andtimerregisterstogivetherequireddivisionratio.Thecounterwillbegintocount-upfromthis

preloadregistervalueuntilfull,atwhichpointanoverflowsignalisgenerated,causingboththePFD

outputstochangestate.Thenthecounterwillbeautomaticallyreloadedwiththepreloadregister

valueandcontinuecounting-up.IftheCTRL0registerhasselectedthePFDfunction,thenforPFD

outputtooperate,itisessentialforthePortBcontrolregisterPBCtosetthePFDpinsasoutputs.

PB3mustbesethightoactivatethePFD.Theoutputdatabitscanbeusedastheon/offcontrolbit

forthePFDoutputs.NotethatthePFDoutputswillallbelowiftheoutputdatabitisclearedto

zero.

PFD Function

I/O Interfacing

TheTimer/EventCounter,whenconfiguredtorunintheeventcounterorpulsewidthcapture

mode,requirestheuseofanexternaltimerpinforitsoperation.Asthispinisasharedpinitmust

beconfiguredcorrectlytoensurethatitissetforuseasaTimer/EventCounterinputpin.Thisis

achievedbyensuringthatthemodeselectsbitsintheTimer/EventCountercontrolregister,either

theeventcounterorpulsewidthcapturemode.AdditionallythecorrespondingPortControlRegister

bitmustbesethightoensurethatthepinissetasaninput.Anypull-highresistorconnectedtothis

pinwillremainvalidevenifthepinisusedasaTimer/EventCounterinput.
