CONNECTION AND USE METHOD FOR MANUAL
ARC WELDING (MMA)
CONNECTION OF OUTPUT CABLES FOR MANUAL ARC WELDING
There are two ways to connect the power output cable: front connection and reverse
connection.
1. Front connection
The workpiece is connected with "+", welding clamp is connected with "-". Manual arc
welding is often used to weld acid electrodes. This welding method has higher
welding rate and shallower welding depth.
2. Reverse connection
The workpiece is connected with "-", via a welding clamp and is connected with "+".
Alkaline electrode welding is often used in manual arc welding. Adopting this welding
method, the welding seam is deep. In addition, using an alkaline electrode welding
method is good for arc stability.
APPLICATION METHOD OF MANUAL ARC WELDING
1. Turn on the power supply switch of the machine.
2. Set the welding method on the welding power control panel to "MMA" manual arc
welding.
3. Manual arc welding can be carried out only after the output end of the welding
power supply is reliably connected with the welding cable. When no remote
control box is inserted, the welding current is adjusted by the "welding current"
knob on the front panel of the welding power supply. Thrust is regulated by the
"thrust current" knob on the front panel of the welding power supply. When a
remote control box is inserted, the welding current and thrust force are adjusted
by a knob on the remote control box.
CONNECTION AND OPERATION FOR MMA
There are two connection mode: positive and negative connection.
(1) Positive connection
Connect the workpiece to “+” and the electrode holder to “-”. This configuration is
often used when welding acid electrodes, giving high deposition rate and shallow
penetration.
(2) Negative connection
