In Circuit Programming
TheprovisionofFlashtypeProgramMemoryprovidestheuserwithameansofconvenientandeasy
upgradesandmodificationstotheirprogramsonthesamedevice.Asanadditionalconvenience,
Holtekhasprovidedameansofprogrammingthemicrocontrollerin-circuitusinga4-pininterface.
Thisprovidesmanufacturerswiththepossibilityofmanufacturingtheircircuitboardscompletewith
aprogrammedorun-programmedmicrocontroller,andthenprogrammingorupgradingtheprogram
atalaterstage.Thisenablesproductmanufacturerstoeasilykeeptheirmanufacturedproducts
suppliedwiththelatestprogramreleaseswithoutremovalandre-insertionofthedevice.
TheHoltekFlashMCUtoWriterProgrammingPincorrespondencetableisasfollows:

Duringtheprogrammingprocess,theusermusttheretakecaretoensurethatnootheroutputs
areconnectedtothesetwopins.TheProgramMemoryandEEPROMdatamemorycanbothbe
programmedseriallyin-circuitusingthis4-wireinterface.Dataisdownloadedanduploadedserially
onasinglepinwithanadditionallinefortheclock.Twoadditionallinesarerequiredforthepower
supply.Thetechnicaldetailsregardingthein-circuitprogrammingofthedevicearebeyondthe
scopeofthisdocumentandwillbesuppliedinsupplementaryliterature.
