19 / 26 page ![]() WM8706 Production Data w PD Rev 4.1 July 2005 19 POWERDOWN MODE Setting the PWDN register bit immediately connects all outputs to VMID and selects a low power mode. All trace of the previous input samples is removed, and all register settings are cleared. When PWDN is cleared again the first 16 input samples will be ignored as the FIR will repeat it's power-on initialisation sequence. Interface format is selected via the IW[2:0] register bits in register M2 and the I 2S register bit in M3. The digital filters always input 24-bit data. If the DAC is programmed to receive 16 or 20 bit data, the WM8706 pads the unused LSBs with zeros. If the DAC is programmed into 32 bit mode, the 4 LSBs are ignored. SELECTION OF LRCIN POLARITY In left justified, right justified or I 2S modes, the LRP register bit controls the polarity of LRCIN. If this bit is set high, the expected polarity of LRCIN will be the opposite of that shown in Figure 4, Figure 5 and Figure 6. Note that if this feature is used as a means of swapping the left and right channels, a 1 sample phase difference will be introduced.
