External Bootstrap Diode
An external bootstrap diode may enhance
regulator
efficiency
under
the
following
conditions:
VOUT=5V or 3.3V; and
High duty cycle: D=
IN
OUT

>65%
In these cases, add an external BST diode from
the output of the voltage regulator to the BST
pin, as shown in Figure 3.

The recommended external BST diode is
IN4148, and the BST capacitor is 0.1µF-1µF.
