Writing to each bit (except bit 6) of the A-D control register 0 and each bit of the A-D control register 1 must be performed while the A-D converter stops operating, in other words, before a trigger is generated. When the VREF connection selection bit is cleared from “1” to “0,” in other words, when pin VREF is disconnected from the resistor ladder network, wait for an period of 1 µs or more, and then generate a trigger. 2. When an external trigger is selected, pin AN5 cannot be used as an analog input pin because this pin is disconnected from the comparator. If pin AN5 is selected as an analog input pin when an external trigger is selected, the A-D converter operates, but an undefined value is stored into the A-D register 5. 3.
