Periodic Type TM Operating Modes

ThePeriodicTypeTMcanoperateinoneoffiveoperatingmodes,CompareMatchOutputMode,

PWMOutputMode,SinglePulseOutputMode,CaptureInputModeorTimer/CounterMode.The

operatingmodeisselectedusingthePTM1andPTM0bitsinthePTMC1register.

Compare Match Output Mode

Toselectthismode,bitsPTM1andPTM0inthePTMC1register,shouldbeallclearedto00

respectively.Inthismodeoncethecounterisenabledandrunningitcanbeclearedbythree

methods.Theseareacounteroverflow,acomparematchfromComparatorAandacomparematch

fromComparatorP.WhenthePTCCLRbitislow,therearetwowaysinwhichthecountercan

becleared.OneiswhenacomparematchoccursfromComparatorP,theotheriswhentheCCRP

bitsareallzerowhichallowsthecountertooverflow.HereboththePTMAFandPTMPFinterrupt

requestflagsforComparatorAandComparatorPrespectively,willbothbegenerated.

IfthePTCCLRbitinthePTMC1registerishighthenthecounterwillbeclearedwhenacompare

matchoccursfromComparatorA.However,hereonlythePTMAFinterruptrequestflagwillbe

generatedevenifthevalueoftheCCRPbitsislessthanthatoftheCCRAregisters.Thereforewhen

PTCCLRishighnoPTMPFinterruptrequestflagwillbegenerated.IntheCompareMatchOutput

Mode,theCCRAcannotbesetto“0”.IftheCCRAbitsareallzero,thecounterwilloverflowwhen

itsreachesitsmaximum10-bit,3FFHex,value,howeverherethePTMAFinterruptrequestflag

willnotbegenerated.

Asthenameofthemodesuggests,afteracomparisonismade,theTMoutputpin,willchangestate.

TheTMoutputpinconditionhoweveronlychangesstatewhenaPTMAFinterruptrequestflagis

generatedafteracomparematchoccursfromComparatorA.ThePTMPFinterruptrequestflag,

generatedfromacomparematchfromComparatorP,willhavenoeffectontheTMoutputpin.The

wayinwhichtheTMoutputpinchangesstatearedeterminedbytheconditionofthePTIO1and

PTIO0bitsinthePTMC1register.TheTMoutputpincanbeselectedusingthePTIO1andPTIO0

bitstogohigh,togolowortotogglefromitspresentconditionwhenacomparematchoccursfrom

ComparatorA.TheinitialconditionoftheTMoutputpin,whichissetupafterthePTONbitchanges

fromlowtohigh,issetupusingthePTOCbit.NotethatifthePTIO1,PTIO0bitsarezerothenno

pinchangewilltakeplace.
