General Description

ThisHoltekdeviceisspecificallydesignedforBodyFatScaleapplications.Measuringbodyfatuses

atechniquewherebyanACcurrentflowingthroughthehumanbodyismeasuredandthenusedto

calculateabodyfatvalue.Thespecialisedcircuitstodothisareaweightmeasurementcircuitandafat

measurementcircuit.Theweightmeasurementcircuitusesanexternalloadcelltooutputasignal,which

afteramplificationbyanOPA,andthenconversionusinganADC,readsthecorrespondingvalueasthe

calculatedweight.ThefatmeasurementcircuitusesanACsignalviaanelectrodeslicetoflowthrough

humanbody.AfteramplificationbyaninternalOPA,andthenconversionbyanADC,themeasured

valueisonerepresentingbodyimpedance,whichisusedtocalculatethecorrespondingbodyfatvalue.

ThedeviceisaFlashMemoryA/Dtype8-bithighperformanceRISCarchitecturemicrocontroller

withmulti-channel20-bitDelta-SigmaA/D(ΔΣA/D)converter,designedforapplicationsthat

interfacedirectlytoanalogsignalsandwhichrequirethelownoiseandhighaccuracyanalogto

digitalconverter.OfferinguserstheconvenienceofFlashMemorymulti-programmingfeatures,this

devicealsoincludesawiderangeoffunctionsandfeatures.OthermemoryincludesanareaofRAM

DataMemoryaswellasanareaoftrueEEPROMmemoryforstorageofnon-volatiledatasuchas

serialnumbers,calibrationdataetc.

Analogfeaturesincludeamulti-channelwith20-bitΔΣA/Dconverterandprogrammablegain

amplifier(PGA)functions.AnextremelyflexibleTimerModuleprovidestiming,pulsegeneration

andPWMgenerationfunctions.Inaddition,internalLDOfunctionprovidesvariouspoweroptions

totheinternalandexternaldevices.ProtectivefeaturessuchasaninternalWatchdogTimer,Low

VoltageResetandLowVoltageDetectorcoupledwithexcellentnoiseimmunityandESDprotection

ensurethatreliableoperationismaintainedinhostileelectricalenvironments.

AfullchoiceofHXT,LXT,HIRCandLIRCoscillatorfunctionsareprovidedincludingafully

integratedsystemoscillatorwhichrequiresnoexternalcomponentsforitsimplementation.Theability

tooperateandswitchdynamicallybetweenarangeofoperatingmodesusingdifferentclocksources

givesuserstheabilitytooptimisemicrocontrolleroperationandminimisepowerconsumption.

TheinclusionofflexibleI/Oprogrammingfeatures,Time-Basefunctionsalongwithmanyother

featuresensurethatthedevicewillfindexcellentuseinapplicationssuchasweightscales,electronic

metering,environmentalmonitoring,handheldinstruments,householdappliances,electronically

controlledtools,motordrivinginadditiontomanyothers.
