ByselectingthePGAinputchannelstoVTSO+andVTSO-,theADCcangetthetemperature informationandthedesignercandosomecompensationtotheA/Dconverteddata.Thefollowing blockdiagramillustratesthefunctionaloperationforthetemperaturesensor. AVSS I AVDD ADC VTSO+ VTSO- PGA Serial Interface Module – SIM ThisdevicecontainsaSerialInterfaceModule,whichincludesboththefourlineSPIinterfaceand thetwolineI2Cinterfacetypes,toallowaneasymethodofcommunicationwithexternalperipheral hardware.Havingrelativelysimplecommunicationprotocols,theseserialinterfacetypesallowthe microcontrollertointerfacetoexternalSPIorI2Cbasedhardwaresuchassensors,Flashmemory, etc.Asbothinterfacetypessharethesamepinsandregisters,thechoiceofwhethertheSPIorI2C typeisusedismadeusingtheSIMoperatingmodecontrolbits,namedSIM2~SIM0,intheSIMC0 register.Thesepull-highresistorsoftheSIMpin-sharedI/Opinsareselectedusingpull-highcontrol registerswhentheSIMfunctionisenabledandthecorrespondingpinsareusedasSIMinputpins. SPI Interface TheSPIinterfaceisoftenusedtocommunicatewithexternalperipheraldevicessuchassensors, Flashmemorydevicesetc.OriginallydevelopedbyMotorola,thefourlineSPIinterfaceisa synchronousserialdatainterfacethathasarelativelysimplecommunicationprotocolsimplifying theprogrammingrequirementswhencommunicatingwithexternalhardwaredevices. Thecommunicationisfullduplexandoperatesasaslave/mastertype,wherethedevicecanbe eithermasterorslave.AlthoughtheSPIinterfacespecificationcancontrolmultipleslavedevices fromasinglemaster,butthisdeviceisprovidedonlyoneSCSpin.Ifthemasterneedstocontrol multipleslavedevicesfromasinglemaster,themastercanuseI/Opintoselecttheslavedevices. SPI Interface Operation TheSPIinterfaceisafullduplexsynchronousserialdatalink.Itisafourlineinterfacewithpin namesSDI,SDO,SCKandSCS.PinsSDIandSDOaretheSerialDataInputandSerialDataOutput lines,SCKistheSerialClocklineandSCSistheSlaveSelectline.AstheSPIinterfacepinsarepin- sharedwithnormalI/OpinsandwiththeI2Cfunctionpins,theSPIinterfacemustfirstbeenabled bysettingthecorrectbitsintheSIMC0andSIMC2registers.TheSPIcanbedisabledorenabled usingtheSIMENbitintheSIMC0register.CommunicationbetweendevicesconnectedtotheSPI interfaceiscarriedoutinaslave/mastermodewithalldatatransferinitiationsbeingimplemented bythemaster.TheMasteralsocontrolstheclocksignal.AsthedeviceonlycontainsasingleSCS pinonlyoneslavedevicecanbeutilized.TheSCSpiniscontrolledbysoftware,setCSENbitto"1" toenableSCSpinfunction,setCSENbitto"0"theSCSpinwillbefloatingstate. |
