Product data sheet Rev. 4 — 8 April 2015 51 of 107 NXP Semiconductors PCA2117 Automotive LCD driver for character displays 8.5.1 RAM/ROM access The RAM and ROM access of the PCA2117 is exemplified in Figure 31 8.5.2 Checksum In order to detect transmission failures for RAM content transfers, the PCA2117 has a checksum calculator providing an XOR or CRC-8 checksum. The checksum calculator can be configured with bit XC of the Read_reg_select command (see Section 8.1.1.6). The checksum result can be read out with the Read_status_reg command (see Section 8.1.1.7). The checksum results are: • when XC = 0 (XOR checksum) – The checksum is the result of the XOR operation on the values loaded with the Write_data command and the previous register content. – The checksum result is reset when the bits of the command select RS[1:0] or R/W are changed. • when XC = 1 (CRC-8 checksum) Fig 31.
