AstheLCDMemoryaddressesoverlapthoseoftheGeneralPurposeDataMemory,itsstoredinits ownindependentBank1area.TheDataMemoryBanktobeusedischosenbyusingtheBankPointer, whichisaspecialfunctionregisterintheDataMemory,withthename,BP.ToaccesstheLCD MemorythereforerequiresfirstthatBank1isselectedbywritingavalueof01HtotheBPregister. Afterthis,thememorycanthenbeaccessedbyusingindirectaddressingthroughtheuseofMemory PointerMP1.WithBank1selected,thenusingMP1toreadorwritetothememoryarea,startingwith address80H,willresultinoperationstotheLCDMemory.DirectlyaddressingtheDisplayMemoryis notapplicableandwillresultinadataaccesstotheBank0GeneralPurposeDataMemory. TheaccompanyingLCDMemoryMapdiagramsshowshowtheinternalLCDMemoryismapped totheSegmentsandCommonsofthedisplayforthedevice.LCDMemoryMapsforthedevicewith smallermemorycapacitiescanbeextrapolatedfromthesediagrams. . .
