17.3 Watchdog timer
A program runaway detection example with using the watchdog timer is described below.
17.3.1 Program runaway detection example
In this example, when the watchdog timer detect a program runaway, the microcomputer is reset.
(1) Specifications
ΠThe main clock is the system clock and f(XIN) = 16 MHz.
 When an interval of 4.09 ms has passed after value “FFF16” is set, the watchdog timer issues
an interrupt request. (When writing to address 6016 is not performed because of a program runa-
way.)
Ž When a watchdog timer interrupt request occurs, the microcomputer is reset. (“Software reset” is
applied.)
(2) Initial setting for related register

Watchdog timer count source: clock f 32
(In the case where f(XIN) = 16 MHz, a watchdog timer interrupt request occurs
when an interval of 4.09 ms has passed after value “FFF 16” is set.)
