188 / 231 page  Rev. 1.60 188 �ove��e� ��� �01� Rev. 1.60 189 �ove��e� ��� �01� HT45F65/HT45F66/HT45F67 Glucose Meter 8-Bit Flash MCU UART External Interface Tocommunicatewithanexternalserialinterface,theinternalUARThastwoexternalpinsknown asTXandRX.TheTXpinistheUARTtransmitterpin,whichcanbeusedasageneralpurpose I/Oorotherpin-sharedfunctionalpinifthepinisnotconfiguredasaUARTtransmitter,which occurswhentheTXENbitintheUCR2controlregisterisequaltozero.Similarly,theRXpinisthe UARTreceiverpin,whichcanalsobeusedasageneralpurposeI/Opin,ifthepinisnotconfigured asareceiver,whichoccursiftheRXENbitintheUCR2registerisequaltozero.Alongwiththe UARTENbit,theTXENandRXENbits,ifset,willautomaticallysetuptheseI/Opinsorotherpin- sharedfunctionaltotheirrespectiveTXoutputandRXinputconditionsanddisableanypull-high resistoroptionwhichmayexistontheTXandRXpins. UART Data Transfer Scheme TheblockdiagramshowstheoveralldatatransferstructurearrangementfortheUARTinterface. TheactualdatatobetransmittedfromtheMCUisfirsttransferredtotheTXRregisterbythe applicationprogram.ThedatawillthenbetransferredtotheTransmitShiftRegisterfromwhereit willbeshiftedout,LSBfirst,ontotheTXpinataratecontrolledbytheBaudRateGenerator.Only theTXRregisterismappedontotheMCUDataMemory,theTransmitShiftRegisterisnotmapped andisthereforeinaccessibletotheapplicationprogram. DatatobereceivedbytheUARTisacceptedontheexternalRXpin,fromwhereitisshiftedin, LSBfirst,totheReceiverShiftRegisterataratecontrolledbytheBaudRateGenerator.When theshiftregisterisfull,thedatawillthenbetransferredfromtheshiftregistertotheinternalRXR register,whereitisbufferedandcanbemanipulatedbytheapplicationprogram.OnlytheRXR registerismappedontotheMCUDataMemory,theReceiverShiftRegisterisnotmappedandis thereforeinaccessibletotheapplicationprogram. Itshouldbenotedthattheactualregisterfordatatransmissionandreception,althoughreferredto inthetext,andinapplicationprograms,asseparateTXRandRXRregisters,onlyexistsasasingle sharedregisterintheDataMemory.ThissharedregisterknownastheTXR/RXRregisterisusedfor bothdatatransmissionanddatareception. UART Status and Control Registers TherearefivecontrolregistersassociatedwiththeUARTfunction.TheUSR,UCR1andUCR2 registerscontroltheoverallfunctionoftheUART,whiletheBRGregistercontrolstheBaudrate. TheactualdatatobetransmittedandreceivedontheserialinterfaceismanagedthroughtheTXR/ RXRdataregisters. TXR/RXR Register TheTXR/RXRregisteristhedataregisterwhichisusedtostorethedatatobetransmittedonthe TXpinorbeingreceivedfromtheRXpin.
