8.3. Device functional modes

The DIO1408 support three functional modes: shutdown, continuous and one-shot mode, determined by M0 and

M1.

8.3.1. Shutdown mode

For shutdown mode, M1 = 0, M0 = 0.

By shutting down all device circuitry except for the serial interface, shutdown mode saves power and reduces

the current consumption to 0.5 μA (Typ). When M1= 0, and M0 = 0, shutdown mode is enabled. Once that

current conversion is completed, the device shuts down.

8.3.2. Continuous conversion mode

For continuous conversion mode, M1 = 1.

In this mode, the DIO1408 continuously performs temperature conversions. Every conversion cycle consists of

an active period followed by a standby period. The duration of standby period can be configured using the CR1

and CR0 in the configuration register, thereby allowing the average current consumption of the device to be

optimized based on the application requirements.

8.3.3. One-shot mode

For one-shot mode, M1 = 0, M0 = 1.

The DIO1408 triggers a single temperature conversion by writing the M1 = 0, and M0 = 1, when the DIO1408 is

in shutdown state. During the conversion, the M1 = 0 and M0 = 1. When the single conversion completes, the

device returns to the shutdown state. After the conversion, the M1 = 0 and M0 = 0. When continuous

temperature monitoring is not required, this one-shot mode helps reduce the power consumption.
