Overview
ATtiny48/88 features a 10-bit, successive approximation Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). The
ADC is wired to a nine-channel analog multiplexer, which allows the ADC to measure the volt-
age at six (or eight, in 32-lead packages) single-ended input pins and from one internal, single-
ended voltage channel coming from the internal temperature sensor. Single-ended voltage
inputs are referred to 0V (GND).
The ADC contains a Sample and Hold circuit which ensures that the input voltage to the ADC is
held at a constant level during conversion. A block diagram of the ADC is shown in Figure 17-1
on page 159.
There is a separate analog supply voltage pin for the ADC, AV
CC. Analog supply voltage is con-
nected to the ADC via a passive switch. The voltage difference between supply voltage pins V
CC
and AV
CC may not exceed. See section “ADC Noise Canceler” on page 165 on how to connect
the analog suplly voltage pin.
Internal reference voltage of nominally 1.1V is provided on-chip. Alternatively, V
CC can be used
as reference voltage.
