Note that the component of the 32-bit PCI address marked "zz" (as in 0xzz000000, for
example) represents the base address loaded into the uppermost 8 bits of the memory
base address register.
As shown, the eight request counters occupy consecutive 32-bit locations from an
offset of 0xffff00 to 0xffff1c from the base; the eight acknowledge counters occupy
locations from an offset of 0xffff20 to 0xffff3c. The address of acknowledge counter #0
may thus be obtained by adding 0x20 (i.e., 32 decimal) to the address of request
counter #0, and so on.
Each pair of request and acknowledge counters marked with a given index is dedicated
to a particular device in the system. If the devices are numbered from 0 through 7, and
