Note:Whencheckingfortheendoftheconversionprocess,ifthemethodofpollingtheEOCBbit intheADCR0registerisused,theinterruptenablestepabovecanbeomitted. Theaccompanyingdiagramshowsgraphicallythevariousstagesinvolvedinananalogtodigital conversionprocessanditsassociatedtiming.AfteranA/Dconversionprocesshasbeeninitiated bytheapplicationprogram,themicrocontrollerinternalhardwarewillbegintocarryoutthe conversion,duringwhichtimetheprogramcancontinuewithotherfunctions.Thetimetakenforthe A/Dconversionis106tADCKwheretADCKisequaltotheA/Dclockperiod. Programming Considerations DuringmicrocontrolleroperationswheretheA/Dconverterisnotbeingused,theA/Dinternal circuitrycanbeswitchedofftoreducepowerconsumption,bysettingbitADOFFhighinthe ADCR0register.Whenthishappens,theinternalA/Dconvertercircuitswillnotconsumepower irrespectiveofwhatanalogvoltageisappliedtotheirinputlines.IftheA/Dconverterinputlinesare usedasnormalI/Os,thencaremustbetakenasiftheinputvoltageisnotatavalidlogiclevel,then thismayleadtosomeincreaseinpowerconsumption. |
