Low Voltage Reset – LVR
Themicrocontrollercontainsalowvoltageresetcircuitinordertomonitorthesupplyvoltageofthe
devicesandprovideanMCUresetshouldthevaluefallbelowacertainpredefinedlevel.
• LVR Operation
TheLVRfunctionisalwaysenabledwithaspecificLVRvoltageVLVR.Ifthesupplyvoltageof
thedevicesdroptowithinarangeof0.9V~VLVRsuchasmightoccurwhenchangingthebatteryin
batterypoweredapplications,theLVRwillautomaticallyresetthedevicesinternallyandtheLVRF
bitintheCTRLregisterwillalsobesetto1.ForavalidLVRsignal,alowsupplyvoltage,i.e.,a
voltageintherangebetween0.9V~VLVRmustexistforatimegreaterthanthatspecifiedbytLVR
intheA.C.characteristics.Ifthelowsupplyvoltagestatedoesnotexceedthisvalue,theLVRwill
ignorethelowsupplyvoltageandwillnotperformaresetfunction.TheactualVLVRvaluecanbe
selectedbytheLVSbitsintheLVRCregister.IftheLVS7~LVS0bitsarechangedtosomedifferent
valuesbyenvironmentalnoise,theLVRwillresetthedevicesafter2~3LIRCclockcycles.When
thishappens,theLRFbitintheCTRLregisterwillbesetto1.Afterpowerontheregisterwill
havethevalueof01010101B.NotethattheLVRfunctionwillbeautomaticallydisabledwhenthe
devicesenterthepowerdownmode.

Anyothervalue:GeneratesMCUreset–registerisresettoPORvalue
Whenanactuallowvoltageconditionoccurs,asspecifiedbyoneofthefourdefined
LVRvoltagevaluesabove,anMCUresetwillbegenerated.Theresetoperationwill
beactivatedafter2~3LIRCclockcycles.Inthissituationtheregistercontentswill
remainthesameaftersucharesetoccurs.
Anyregistervalue,otherthanthedefinedLVRvaluesabove,willalsoresultinthe
generationofanMCUreset.Theresetoperationwillbeactivatedafter2~3LIRC
clockcycles.HoweverinthissituationtheregistercontentswillberesettothePOR
value.
